Foundations Summer Camp program is for children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade. (We do also provide summer programs for children from infancy through Pre-K as an extension our school-year programs.)
Foundations K-5th Summer Camp program combines fun and exciting summer camp activities and field trips with supplemental educational activities to keep children entertained while preparing for the next school year. Summer Camp lead teachers are degreed teachers, with 1 teacher for every 10 children in the class. Projects evolve throughout the summer based on children's interests. Children participate weekly in our specialist-taught classes, currently Spanish and Art. Foundations is nationally accredited by NAEYC & SACS-CASI and upholds those high standards during the Summer Camp program.
This summer we will have a unique partnership experience with Kennesaw State University. Under the supervision of Maria Shaheen, a full-time faculty member at Kennesaw State University and parent of two FFTF children, two Kennesaw State University courses will be doing some literacy field work at Foundations for the Future. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of literacy-related projects including small group literacy enrichment, interdisciplinary environmental education projects, and literature circle discussions. In addition, the graduate students will be planning a parent information session about a variety of early literacy topics such as phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and so forth. This is an exciting endeavor and we look forward to seeing the amazing things the Kennesaw State and Foundations students create together over the summer. We hope to share our creations with all of you in late July at the end of the summer semester.
