"Young at Art" Saturday Art Classes

"Young at Art" Toddler Art Classes: 20-36 months Parent/Child Class

Children learn about color, texture and more while experimenting with new and innovative materials. Parents and caregivers learn what they can do to nurture creativity. Emphasis is on process, spatial perception and planning, large and small motor development.

"Preschool Mini Doodlers" ages 3 to K Parent/Child Class

Children will create their own masterpieces using a wide range of high quality art materials. They will develop important skills such as fine motor skills, ability to listen and follow directions, cognitive skills, art vocabulary and more in an environment that develops individual creativity. We also explore literature and art.

"Art 101" Elementary Art Instruction Grades 1-6

Develop new skills and talents while designing unique creations with a variety of materials and tools. Each lesson focuses on developing skills, learning techniques and expanding art knowledge. The methods and styles of contemporary and master artists are explored. This class's main focus is on the elements and principles of Art. Drawing, painting and design are incorporated into each class.

Instructor/Artist Misha Kantartzis

My goal in working with the children is to open up exciting, creative outlets for them to build self-esteem and self-confidence through exposure to the visual arts. By working in conjunction with the classroom teachers, core ideas are incorporated into the art lessons to reinforce the children's interest, curiosity and energy so that it will become a powerful, creative bridge between the arts and the academics. These tools are building blocks for innovation. Leonardo was a great artist, scientist, and inventor, and each specialty nourished the other. Creativity typically occurs when people who have mastered two or more quite different fields use the framework in one to think freshly about the other. Teaching children to become great synthesizers is the developmental goal that I hope to instill in the students.

Sincerely,

Misha Kantartzis
