Foundations is recognized for having an active environmental education program. The primary focus of the program is conservation, preservation and beautification of our environment.
Cobb County Green School Award
The Green School Initiative is a program of the Cobb County Water System Watershed Education and Water Efficiency Programs, Cobb County Parks and Recreation Natural Resources Unit, and The Keep Cobb Beautiful Program. The purpose of the Green School Initiative is to recognize schools in Cobb County with an active environmental education program . The primary focus of the program is conservation, preservation, and beautification of our environment. The program annually recognizes Cobb County Classrooms and Schools that have met the Green School requirements. These schools will be recognized for participating in activities that promote good environmental stewardship. Foundations for the Future has received this recognition in the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school years, and will continue to promote environmental efforts each year.
National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat Nature Trail Area
Part of Foundations' two acres of outdoor play space includes a nature trail area certified by the National Wildlife Federation. This area includes all the essentials to make it a haven for wildlife:
The students are slowly adding native plants and mounting bird houses to attract a variety of Georgia animals. They are actively involved on caring for this space and enjoying it on a weekly basis.
