FAMILY SERVICES
The purpose of the Family Services program at Foundations is to provide parents and teachers with support on behavior issues and special needs through children's program (ExpressYourself Communication & Music), training for parents and teachers, and consultations.
Christine Penguino, Director of Family Services
Christine works directly with the children and teachers in every class twice a week, teaching the Express Yourself! Communication & Music programs. She is currently developing additional enrichment programs to add to the services already in place. Christine has a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, with concentrations in Elementary Education, Psychology, and Child Welfare. She has almost completed her Master of Social Work Degree from Kennesaw State University.Ê She also spent many years involved in drama and music productions, so she is bringing that experience with her as well. Christine's office hours are Fridays from 8:00am-12:00, by appointment.
Enrichment Programs Descriptions
Parent Coaching Group
This is a small group, meeting weekly over a semester to develop parenting skills and gain feedback and insight about their parenting. This group will include discussions, role play, assessment of implementation, and general support to the members. Individual coaching is available for an additional fee.
Children's Divorce and Loss Group
Focused on processing dramatic life changes, this group will provide the opportunity to share, learn, and grow in a weekly small group session. Verbal as well as nontraditional forms of expression will be used. Parents will receive an update on their child's progress via Parent Central on Creative Curriculum.
Children's New Sibling Group
Focused on learning to accept a new or expected sibling and how that may impact the child, this group will provide the opportunity to share, learn, and grow in a weekly small group session. Verbal as well as nontraditional forms of expression will be used. Parents will receive an update on their child's progress via Parent Central on Creative Curriculum.
Private School Preparation Program
Because of the competitive nature of private schools and the now complex application and interview process, this program is designed to give your student a competitive edge. Our Pre-K graduates have been accepted at Mt. Paran, Walker, First Baptist Christian School, North Cobb Christian, and St. Catherine's of Sienna to name a few. The package includes an in depth assessment, 15 sessions of coaching and enrichment, interview prep, and a formal strength based recommendation to be sent to the private schools to which the student is applying. Parents will receive weekly updates of the half hour weekly sessions via Parent Central on Creative Curriculum.
Individual Enrichment Program
A program provided to extend the opportunities offered in the Private School Preparation Program to those who may be too young for, or simply uninterested in the private school focus. It includes an in depth assessment followed by one on one sessions. Content for this program will be developed to focus on the areas needed growth as indicated through assessment as well as input from parents and teachers. This is also a great introduction and supplement to our Children's Groups. Parents will receive weekly updates of the half hour weekly sessions via Parent Central on Creative Curriculum.
