ASSESSMENTS
We believe that assessing individual and group progress is the key to planning classrooms that respond to the needs, interests, and abilities of each child. With ongoing assessment, teachers can focus on all aspects of a child's development.
The observation-based assessments evaluate children's learning and development and use the information to guide children to the next step in development.
The Creative Curriculum Developmental Continuum for Infants and Toddlers has 21 objectives that help teachers by providing a comprehensive picture of how children develop in four developmental areas: Social/Emotional, Physical, Cognitive, and Language.
The Creative Curriculum Developmental Continuum for Preschool & Pre-K has 50 objects in the four developmental areas, as well as assessments in key academic concepts: Print & Book Knowledge, Letter Sounds, Recognition, & Writing; and Phonological Awareness.
The assessment is a road map for determining where each child is developmentally, for following each child's progress, and for planning learning experiences.
Foundations teachers complete a baseline assessment two weeks after the beginning of the school year. This baseline is then compared to a Progress Checkpoint three months later, presented at the Winter Parent/Teacher conference. The 3rd Progress Checkpoint occurs in February, followed by the final Progress Checkpoint, presented at the Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences in May. Our goal is keep you continually informed of your child's progress, as well as to partner with you in planning their future learning goals.
